2nd annual NEBCo Homebrew Competition May 13th, 2023

CALLING ALL HOMEBREWERS!! We invite you to register for the 2nd annual NEBCo Homebrew Competition happening Saturday, May 13th.

It's brought to you in collaboration with Brew Haven, a collective of homebrewers from in and about the New Haven area.

All beers will be judged by BJCP requirements by our amazing line up of judges from all over the state. Got a couple beers brewing? You can enter up to 6 per person, but a minimum of 3 12oz bottles or cans per entry is required for submission. The competition is limited to only 150 entries so don't wait too long to register!

Each beer category will have a first, second, and third place winner with prizes. The top beers from each category will be entered in the Best In Show, where the winner will have the opportunity to brew a beer on our pilot system with the one and only, Greg Radawich, Director of Brewing Operations here at NEBCo.

The taproom will be open to the public during regular business hours, 11am-9pm day of the event. Judging will be done before the taproom opens & awards will be held in the afternoon!

Awards Ceremony & CT Craft Beer Grand Prix Festival

The Connecticut Craft Beer Grand Prix is the first professional beer competition run and organized by the Connecticut Brewers Guild to showcase the outstanding quality and variety of Connecticut craft beer and the brewers that make them. For our inaugural competition, a planning committee of brewers and experienced beer judges from across the state and region have developed the medal categories. Each category contains a variety of BJCP and Great American Beer Festival defined sub-styles to allow participating breweries to best match and categorize their entries. On Sunday, May 29th, 2022 we’ll be having an Award Ceremony and CT Craft Beer Grand Beer Festival at Lime Rock Park where brewers and attendees will join together to celebrate the Award Winners and elect a “People’s Choice” Winner!

Saturday, March 26th at the Toyota Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford, CT for our fourth annual CT Craft Beer Fest presented by the CT Brewers Guild!There will be 60+ of CT's best breweries pouring the freshest beer out there! As our event continues to grow, we're excited to share that the CT Brewers Guild has adding an additional 20+ vendors from across the state, including artists, clothing lines, boutique stores, and more! Once again the event will be throughout the entire Oakdale Theatre, plus enjoying the outdoor space (weather permitting).

National Homebrew Competition

About the Competition

In 1979, 34 entries competed in the first American Homebrewers Association (AHA) National Homebrew Competition held in Boulder, Colorado.

Today, the National Homebrew Competition (NHC) has become the largest homebrew competition in the world. The goal is simple: to celebrate the spirit of homebrewers. The competition gives homebrewers a chance to receive invaluable feedback on their entries and also recognizes the most outstanding, world-class homebrewed beer, mead and cider. Final round winners are revealed at Homebrew Con.

Over the years, we’ve seen homebrewers push the envelope and blur the lines between professional and amateur brewing. As homebrewers, you lead the way with style awareness and ingenuity, all while pushing homebrewing into uncharted territory.

National Homebrew Day Brew Day May 7th 2022

Celebrate the 25th annual Big Brew on May 7, 2022

Held on the first Saturday in May, Big Brew for National Homebrew Day is an opportunity to fire up the kettle and raise a glass to the greatest hobby there is— homebrewing!

Come join us as we get together to brew up some beer and celebrate all things homebrew. This is a great opportunity to check out what different methods and equipment brewers use in the craft of brewing beer.
There will be multiple brewers that start brewing between 9 an 11 in the morning and go to between 2 and 5pm. During this time, people will get a chance to chat with the brewers and learn about their processes and the equipment they are using. We will be sharing beers for sampling and will hold a drawing for some cool prizes for people to win as well. All are welcome to this free event.

HOG RIVER 3RD ANNUAL HOMEBREW COMPETITION

Registration Deadline: February 6th

Entry Drop-Off: February 6th-17th

Judging will take place the morning of Feb. 20th at our taproom. Doors open at 1pm. Winners announced in the taproom at 4pm. Homebrewers receive 15% off their tab that day.

Prizes for Best in Show and 1st Place Category Winners

Best in Show’s recipe will be brewed at Hog River Brewing and put on draft in the taproom for next year’s competition
